Play Better Golf By Pre-Gaming
Pregaming is key to any sport, but it’s not the type of pregaming you’re probably thinking. No alcohol involved here! Instead, it’s all about getting a good night’s sleep so your body is rested for a long morning on the golf course.
We recommend magnesium and B vitamins to help your body relax the night before.
Magnesium is wonderful at combating insomnia by producing melatonin, a common sleep aid supplement and natural hormone. It also acts as a natural calcium blocker to help muscles loosen up after a stressful day. It can also help soothe contractions and spasms.
On the other hand, B vitamins are essential for good sleep. Research suggests good levels of vitamins B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12 help regulate your body’s levels of the amino acid tryptophan, which helps the body produce melatonin. Additionally, B12 and folic acid (vitamin B9), are known to help fight insomnia.
If you’re having trouble sleeping the past few nights, it could be because of a lack of B vitamins as well. A deficiency in B vitamins, though uncommon, can cause you to wake up repeatedly in the night or feel more fatigued during the day.
You can get vitamin B12 and B Complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, biotin, B9, and B12) all at IV Revival. Our mobile IV therapy service sends nurses directly to your home. They’ll administer the IV and treatments are all quick and easy so you’ll be ready to swing your clubs tomorrow. If you’re interested in learning more, give us a call!
Prepping the Day off the Big Golf Game
If it’s the morning before your big golf game and you’re worried about your performance or your physical health, we’ve got you covered too.
If you’re worried that age may be slowing you down, try the natural fountain of fourth — NAD+. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme. It fuels reduction-oxidation reactions, which means it helps increase your resistance to stress and reduces inflammation. So say goodbye to muscle aches, stiffness, and stress and hello to a fun day under par.
Natural Sun Protection
We don’t recommend skipping sunscreen, but we do recommend taking these supplements to help protect your skin.
Vitamin C helps boost the effectiveness of sunscreen and helps keep your skin hydrated. You can also try zinc. Zinc oxide is amazing at protecting your skin from damage — that’s why it’s in most high-performing sunscreen.
Hydrate!
If you start drinking when you feel thirsty, then you’re already a little dehydrated. You should start hydrating before your first hole to ensure your body is at its peak performance level.
In Arizona summers, your body needs significantly more water! 2-1-1 Arizona suggests drinking 5 to 7 ounces of fluids every 15 to 20 minutes to stay hydrated if you’re outside. Additionally, If you’re highly active in the heat, it’s not unusual for someone to lose 5-pounds or more due to sweating. So stay hydrated!
After the Game
Taking care of yourself after your 18-hole excursion is important too. You’ll likely feel a little sore from swinging your clubs or walking the course. The soreness is likely caused by muscle inflammation, which is a sign of you getting stronger. Unfortunately for us, it can also be uncomfortable.
There are many ways to help your muscles relax and soothe inflammation and pain. At-home treatments and natural remedies often take care of the problem quickly.
Some easy measures you can take to relieve muscle discomfort include resting the muscles, taking over-the-counter pain relievers, applying ice and heat to numb and soothe the affected area.
Other measures that may provide relief from muscle pain include:
-
Gently stretching the muscles
-
Avoiding high-impact activities until after the muscle pain goes away
-
Avoiding weight lifting sessions until the muscle pain is resolved
-
Giving yourself time to rest
-
Doing stress-relieving activities and exercises such as yoga and meditation to relieve tension
We also recommend taking vitamin C, B vitamins, and magnesium.
Vitamin C protects muscle cells from free radicals and lactic acid. Lactic acid is the primary source behind muscle pain and inflammation after working out.
B vitamins, B2 (riboflavin) and B6 (pyridoxine), can help improve carpal tunnel syndrome, and vitamin B3 (niacin) relieves osteoarthritis discomfort, resulting in improved joint flexibility, reduced inflammation and a reduction in the need for anti-inflammatory medications.
Magnesium, which we talked about earlier in this blog, is great for relieving muscle soreness after a workout too.
You can get all of them and more at IV Revival. Schedule your at-home treatment today!
